The Greater Providence YMCA provides teens with personal, social and recreational programs in a safe and positive environment that teaches leadership and responsibility, and promotes individual self-esteem. Teen Swim Lessons
Ages 11 to 15
You will learn basic swimming skills, such as the crawl stroke, breathing techniques, and floating, to help you gain confidence in the water. Our trained instructors will individualize the class to meet your personal needs.

Teen Nights
Grades 6-9
A fun night of activities including: swimming, sports, games and special activities which may include movies, dance, and game tournaments. A one-time parent/guardian registration form must be completed before participating.

Leaders' Club
Grades 8-12
This is an opportunity for teens to develop leadership skills as they provide volunteer service within the YMCA and their community. Participants develop program ideas, fundraising opportunities, and special events. Club members participate in social outings, including regional rally weekends with other YMCA Leader’s Clubs. Kent County YMCA Junior Community Theatre
Grade 6-9
The Kent County YMCA is starting a Junior Theatre Troupe for middle school age youth. Each session will include a full one-act play with a performance scheduled at the end of the session.

Guitar Lessons
Ages 12 to adult
This is a basic introduction to the guitar. Learn chords, scales and music theory. Participants must provide their own full-scale guitar. If you have a metronome, we recommend that you bring it. Teen Shape Up Program
Ages 11-15
Learn how to safely and effectively improve physical fitness through strength training, nutrition, and cardiovascular exercise. Under the supervision of YMCA staff, you will be expected to workout two one-hour sessions per week during special times. Teens and preteens who successfully complete this course may use the fitness center during scheduled times. Parents must attend the first 15 minutes of the first class. Teen Martial Arts
Ages 11-15
Teens will learn basic karate techniques that teach responsibility, self-awareness and teamwork, as well as improving coordination and flexibility skills in a class designed to be educational and fun. Sea Otter Swim Team
Ages 5 to 18
Our competitive swim team is designed for swimmers who are Minnow level or above. Team members will compete in the SENECY (Southeast New England Cluster of YMCAs) Swim League. YMCA Rock House
The YMCA Rock House is a venue for young people in high school or college to come see live bands play. All shows are performed by local high school and college age bands from Rhode Island and the New England area.
