Kent County YMCA

Y’s Owl Nursery School

Ages 3-5

The Kent County YMCA has been offering Y’s Owl Nursery School to children in the Kent County community for more than 40 years. The program is state licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Education.

Our program offers your child a warm, supportive environment that fosters the development of healthy self-esteem and encourages personal growth. Your child will enjoy a variety of mind-enriching activities that encourage creativity and individuality. He or she will be involved in playful activities that develop motor skills and increase confidence.

There are activities you will find only at the Y’s Owl program. The YMCA’s popular KIDS Gym uses tunnels, swinging ropes, balls, scooters, a bouncy air mattress, cargo net and much more. An environmental education component encourages preschoolers to explore the world around them. Weekly swim instruction is a part of the curriculum for children enrolled in the five-day program, and is available on a limited basis for children in the three-day program.

Your child will be guided and cared for by teachers selected for their training, certification, experience and remarkable sensitivity to the needs of preschoolers. Our staff comprises certified early childhood teachers and trained assistants.

Our five-day program meets Monday through Friday; our three-day program meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and our two-day program meets Tuesday and Thursday. The morning program meets from 9:00 am to 11:30 am and the afternoon program from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The Y’s Owl Nursery School operates from September through early June.  Click here for a Y's Owl Brochure or contact Susan Shanley, Senior Program Director for further informaiton.
