Y CanTeen
What does your middle school student to after school? This is a neglected group that often needs after school supervision. Pre-teens are looking for after school activities and working parents need a safe place for their children to go.
The Kent County YMCA offers a program called Y CanTeen, an after school program specifically designed for middle school students at select locations, integrated with the School's Out program. The Y CanTeen is an extension of our School’s out program with curriculum to address the interests and needs of this age group. The program will include a daily homework period as well as activities that support the YMCA Activate America Initiative, with physical activity and nutrition as key components. Students will have the opportunity to take part in the planning of activities as well as to volunteer and mentor younger students. Please contact Becky Merritt, Assistant Child Care Director at 828-0130 or at rmerritt@gpymca.org for details regarding schools served.
