Facts and Figures

• Established in 1947 in the Apponaug section of Warwick; celebrated 50 years of service to our members in the community in 1997.
  
  
• One of nine member Ys of the YMCA of Greater Providence.
  
  
• The Kent County YMCA’s primary service area is Warwick, West Warwick, Coventry and East Greenwich.
  
  
• The YMCA is located on 117 acres of property with facilities totaling 35,297 square feet.
  
  
• The Y employs 225 staff members (more than 350 during the summer).
  
• The Y operates 15 child-care sites in Warwick, West Warwick, Coventry and East Greenwich, serving over 400 children and their families. 
  
  
• The Y’s Owl Nursery School, accredited by the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), services 120 children per week. 
  
  
• YMCA Camp Ok-Wa-Nessett is the largest YMCA Day Camp in the state serving approximately 800 children daily. The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association.
  
  
• The Kent County YMCA Trailblazer Program (link) is an inclusionary summer camp program for children in preschool through Grade 8 who are identified through their IEP (Individual Education Plan) as having social, emotional, physical and educational needs that must be addressed through an ESY (Extended School Year) program.
  
  
• We currently have approximately 12,000 members, and a budget of $5.5 million.
  
  
• The Kent County YMCA is nationally recognized for the development of Prime Time - a program that focuses on families in the Y, serving more than 750 children and their families per week.
