East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA

Preschool

Preschool care at the YMCA is a balance of challenging curriculum and positive relationships. Our bright classrooms are learning environments where children can explore concepts at their own pace and build strong social skills and classroom skills. Teacher observation and developmental measurement tools guide the curriculum around the needs of each individual child. Play is the basis of all classroom work with a curriculum centered around the concepts of:

  • Language development, including phonemic awareness, letter recognition, comprehension
  • Mathematics, including patterns, number concepts, measurement
  • Science, including Life Science, Physical Science, and Environment
  • Social Studies, including diversity, classroom behaviors, responsibility
  • Art, including movement, music, drama and visuals arts

Day to day your child will experience the skills of a strong full-time teaching staff with support from senior volunteers, college students, early care professionals and your Center Director. Outside play is valued and outdoor environments are appropriate to your child’s age and development. A healthy and varied breakfast and lunch is served each day.

We are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.
