East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA

Overview and Forms

Are you looking for Traditional Day Camp, Specialty Camp or Residential Camp? Full-day or half-day?  Whatever your needs, the YMCA of Greater Providence has a solution!

Like all YMCA programs, our mission drives our camps…build spirit, mind and body…get back to nature, get out of the city, and refresh spirits, minds and bodies. Amidst the beauty of nature, YMCA camps promote our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

YMCA camps strive to create a safe and caring community for your child. We want all children to feel welcome and accepted. Every day will offer your child new experiences, the chance to develop new skills and the opportunity to make new friends. We offer camps with varied focuses, such as nature, sports, art, theater, music, horseback, computer, gymnastics, and leadership development. All of our programs are designed to encourage group participation, cooperation, build self-confidence and allow children to develop individual interests. No matter what camp you choose, your child will receive a well-balanced experience, by having both their physical and emotional needs met.

Greater Providence YMCA camps are operated by each of our branches in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts (Newman YMCA in Seekonk) and are open to children ages 3 to 17. Many camps offer extended care options, which make them a great choice for working parents!

Our camp staff is made up of individuals committed to making your child’s camping experience fun, safe and memorable. Our camp staff consists of many year-round child-care staff and college students with pertinent child-care experience and/or education. All YMCA of Greater Providence camp staff members are required to undergo thorough background checks, which include personal and professional reference checks, criminal background checks and child abuse/neglect and/or sexual offender record checks through the state they are employed in. Camp staff are also first aid and CPR certified.

YMCA camps are accredited by the American Camping Association and approved by the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Departments of Health. Our camps meet or exceed the requirements of the National YMCA and the American Camping Association.
