Fitness in the Parks 2015 was the program's third annual season. Free fitness classes were held across the city of Providence during the summer months, with volunteer instructors of many different fitness backgrounds. Be sure to join us next summer!

What's Our CEO Up To?

One of the first health equity zones in RI took shape on Oct. 9 -- the South County Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds community approach to promoting long-term health. The initiative focuses on the healthy bodies, healthy minds of children. Jim Berson, the chair of the South County Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds initiative and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Providence, served as the emcee at the news conference. Read the full story here!


Christy Clausen, senior director at Providence Youth Services, represented the YMCA of Greater Providence at a Y USA conference in early November 2015. Over 144 YMCAs in the country receive the Walmart year-round food service grant. Only 15 grantees were chosen as "the best of the best" to attend a harvest session and share their work -- the YMCA of Greater Providence is one the 15!
