Aquatics
The South County YMCA Aquatics Program offers an opportunity for individuals to become immersed in much more than water. The therapeutic benefits of water-based activities, coupled with increased self-esteem gained from exceeding the expectations of oneself, keeps people coming back to enjoy a lifetime of fun and good health.
YMCA Aquatics is not simply a way to have fun. Learning how to swim and other water-safety activities are wholesome community activities that leads to a safe water experience in the pool or on the beach. Please contact our Aquatic Director if you have any questions or would like more information.

Parent/ Child Swim Lessons
These lessons are created for the younger swimmer, ranging from ages 6 months through 5 years old. These lessons are created to get the child acclimated to the water through a positive parent-child aquatic experience. Our offerings are SKIPS (6-23 months), Perch (24-36 months), and Pike with Parent (3-5 years old). For a complete list of times and days, please see our program brochure.

Preschool Swim Lessons
These lessons are created for children ages 3 through 5. The classes progress as your child increases their swimming ability. Our offerings are, in sequential order, Pike, Eel, Ray, and Starfish. We also offer a specialty program called Sport and Splash for 3 to 6 year olds. For a complete list of times and days please see our program brochure.

Youth Swim Lessons
These swim lessons are created for children ages 6 through 12 . Classes are offered for the beginner swimmer, who still uses a floatation device, to the advanced swimmer, who will work on refining their strokes and preparing for Swim Team. Our offerings are, in sequential order, Polliwog I, Polliwog II, Guppy, Minnow, Fish, Flying Fish, Shark, Porpoise Club (participant must be 11 to14 and minnow level or above), and Synchronized Swim Instruction (minnow level and above). Teen/Adult Swim Lessons
These lessons are created for the teen ages 13 through 17 and adults over the age of 18. The classes are appropriate for all swim levels, beginner to advanced. For a complete list of times and days please see our program brochure.

Swim Team
Masters Swim Team
The South County YMCA offers a multi-level progressive swim team program for children ages 6 through 18 and a Masters Swim Team for adults 19 and older. These programs provide a competitive, educational, and fun swim experience for the experienced swimmer. For a complete list of times and days please see our program brochure.
Pre- Swim Team SEALS For ages 6 through 18 who are looking to improve swimming strokes and endurance. Must be a Minnow level or above. For a complete list of times and days please see our program brochure.

Aquatics Trainings
These trainings are made for the individual who is 16 and older. The offerings are as follows: YMCA Lifeguard Class, YMCA Lifeguard Recertification class, and Crossover from Red Cross to YMCA Lifeguard. For a complete list of times and days, please see our program brochure.

Water Exercise
Our Aquatics Department offers several types of water exercise classes, including The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aqua Program (AFYAP), Water Wellness (Shallow & Deep), and Water Fitness (Shallow & Deep). 'Walk & Talk' times are also set aside for independent exercise. Please see our Water Exercise Schedule/Class Descriptions for a complete list of classes, days and times.

Our pool is available for rental under certain circumstances. Please contact our Aquatic Director for more information.

Birthday Parties
This is a private adventure for you and up to 25 guests. You will get 45 minutes of free swim time followed by an hour in one of our party rooms. Please contact our Welcome Center at 783-3900 for more details or to book your party.

Water Polo
Water Polo is a great way to have fun while keeping up one’s swimming skills. Includes instruction, practice, and scrimmage. Equipment is provided. For a complete list of times and days, please see our program brochure.

Private Swim Lessons
Open to all ages and skill levels. Experienced, trained staff will spend 30 minutes of individualized instruction with you or your child. Advanced registration is required. Contact the Welcome Center for details. click more info

SPLASH Week
This free program offers swimming experiences that teach water safety, swimming skills and games to better prepare your child for a safer and fun-filled summer. This program runs during April School vacation week. Please contact the Welcome Center for more details.
