West Bay Family YMCA

Active Older Adults

"Baby Boomers,” “Sandwich Generation,” and “Grandparents Raising Children” are phrases that are part of a new era. As the population ages, the need for programs and activities that address this age group grows. YMCA volunteers, staff and fellow members encourage a welcoming and supportive atmosphere that addresses those needs and spans generations.

  • Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers have been the YMCA’s greatest strength for 150 years. At the YMCA your time and talent go a long way. Every hour you spend as a YMCA volunteer translates into caring attention for children, families, adults and seniors so that they can be successful, strong, live healthier lives, and feel they are part of the YMCA community. There are many opportunities to volunteer at the West Bay Family YMCA. This may be one hour a week, one hour a month, or and "on-call" opportunity.  You could help with a mailing, greet members at our Welcome Center, read to a child, or you could be a Membership Volunteer and check-in with new members to see how they are doing with their memberships. If you would like to join the West Bay Family YMCA volunteers, or would like to know more about opportunities available, please contact Barbara Mackisey, bmackisey@gpymca.org, Volunteer Coordinator at the Y.
