We are excited to announce new leadership!

The Greater Providence YMCA is pleased to announce that Steven G. O’Donnell, former Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the RI Department of Public Safety, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer. The nationwide search for the new GPYMCA CEO was conducted by O’Neill Consulting Group of Wakefield, RI. O’Donnell brings integrity, strong leadership and an unparalleled understanding of Rhode Island communities, and we are excited he has chosen to join the YMCA and our mission for the next stage of his remarkable career. Exciting news: Our Providence YMCA has been selected as one of 50 cities nationwide for First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let's Move! Outside initiative! The nationwide initiative aims to inspire young generations to learn about, explore, play, work and serve on public lands, such as local parks, federal lands, and waters. The initiative will provide two years of funding for the Providence Metro YMCA to help coordinate efforts, facilitate collaboration, grow resources, and increase participation in outdoor programs and lands.
