School’s Out – Before and After School Care
    Elementary School/ Middle School Grades

For the times you can’t be there yourself, the YMCA supports your efforts to nurture your child’s healthy development. Well-trained staff provide safe, affordable, high-quality child care so you can have peace of mind. This program is licensed by the Department of Children, Youth and Families and we maintain a 1:13 ratio of staff to children.

The School’s Out program will incorporate the YMCA Activate America goals of increasing physical activity and supporting healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating healthy snacks, into our daily program with time for homework, character development, creative and physical activities each day.

The Kent County YMCA offers a program called Y CanTeen, an after school program specifically designed for middle school students at select locations. This is an extension of our School’s out program with a curriculum to address the interests and needs of this age group.

For more information please contact Becky Merritt, Child Care Director at 828-0130 or at rmerritt@gpymca.org.

    Convenient Locations

We have many convenient locations to provide our child care services during before and after school hours, serving the Coventry, East Greenwich, Warwick and West Warwick communities.

We also offer care at a central location at our main facility! The YMCA program location will provide licensed child care as well as access to all afternoon programs and lessons for children! The program will include daily homework support, healthy snacks and a variety of enrichment activities. In addition, children can be enrolled in any afternoon program or lesson – from swim lessons to gymnastics to sports, and Child Care staff will escort them to the class and back!

We ALSO offer our services in the community with locations at various school-based sites. Hours of operation are 6:45 am to the start of school for before school care and school dismissal until 6:00 pm for after school care, Monday through Friday (program runs for the school year). Full-time Vacation Care is also available for the three school vacations! Please contact Becky Merritt, Child Care Director at 828-0130 or at rmerritt@gpymca.org. for more information about this program, transportation from schools and registration.
