Woods/Young – A Full Service Community School (Spring 2010)

Out Of School Time Program opens September 2, 2009 with additional resources and supports on line in 2010

Full Service Community Schools:
Providence Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) is a collaborative program between Providence Public Schools, Dorcas Place, John Hope Settlement House and Providence Youth Services YMCA. This initiative is bringing on-site before an after school enrichment programs, family programs, Adult ESL classes and case managers to help your child succeed in school. We will officially open on the first day of school.

Our program is safe!
Many of the FSCS staff are certified teachers from Providence Schools. We transport children to and from programs in First Student School Busses or YMCA mini-busses, which are much safer than 15 passenger vans. Our programs are licensed by DCYF.

Our program is learning and fun!
Students will participate in enrichment programs by YMCA staff, community partners and teachers from the school. These fun classes incorporate learning to help your child succeed in school.

Our program involves parent/teacher/Principal leadership!
Parents, Principals and school teachers at our schools help us decide which programs their students like and need! Our Governing Council is made up of community members working toward the success of each child in the West End and Southside Neighborhoods.
