SOUTH COUNTY YMCA SEALS SWIM TEAM

AGES 7 TO 18 YEARS

On this value oriented competitive team, everyone participates to improve swimming technique, improve physical conditioning, learn good sportsman- ship, and enjoy team fun. Our team competes in the SENECY swim league against other YMCAs in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Swimmers are encouraged to attend all Home and Away meets.  To attend SENECY Championships swimmers are required to attend a minimum of 4 meets. 

SESSION: September 2015 until March 2016. 
Registration for tryouts opens on August 15, 2015. You can register online or by contacting our Welcome Center at 401.783.3900. Tryout schedule as follows:

  • Returning Swimmers ages 7 to 12: 9/8, 9/9, 9/10 and 9/11, 4:30 to 5:30
  • Returning Swimmers ages 13 & Up: 9/8, 9/9, 9/10 and 9/11, 3:30 to 4:30
  • New Swimmers ages 7 to 12: 9/9, 9/10/ 9/14, 4:30 - 5:30
  • New Swimmers ages 13 & Up: 9/9, 9/10/ 9/14, 3:30 - 4:30

Throughout the season, members of the SCY Seals team should contact our Aquatics Director, Heather Sargeant, with any questions or concerns.

SOUTH COUNTY YMCA RECREATION SWIM TEAM

AGES 6 TO 13 YEARS

Swimmers will get the team type environment with two practices per week. A fun swim meet will be held at the conclusion of the program. MUST BE SCY Member, youth member at minimum. Registration opens August 15, 2015.

MEMBER RATE: $160.00
SESSION:
 September 8, 2015 thru October 24, 2015 with the following practice schedule:

  • Tuesday: 6:00-7:00pm 
  • Thursday: 6:00-7:00pm 
  • Saturday 11:00-12:00pm

MASTERS SWIM TEAM

Masters swimming is an organized swim program for adults 18 and older and is not a learn to swim program.  SCYMCA masters swim team is made up of former age group swimmers, college, high school and triathletes.  Work outs have 5 levels of abilities, with workouts ranging from 2,800 meters to 4,500 meters in distance during each practice.  Swimmers should know the basics for each of the 4 competitive strokes.  Practices will consist of drills to improve a 4 strokes, endurance and speed.

The team has two sessions a year, meeting 3 times a week.  Participants are encouraged to become US Masters Members, so that they can participate in the two US masters meets.

Space is limited to 35 participants. Prospective Master Swim members should contact our Aquatics Director, Heather Sargeant, or Head Coach Fred Bartlett. Open tryouts will be held August 22, 2015.

MEMBER RATE: $175.00
PRACTICE SCHEDULE: Tuesday & Thursday 7:00pm - 8:30pm and Sundays 7:15am - 9:00am.
