Your Child's Safety Comes First at the Y
The Y is a safe place for kids and families.
At the YMCA, the safety of the children and families in our care is always our top priority, whether at Camp, in child care and after school programs, or in any one of our full-service facilities.
Throughout the course of a year, the YMCA of Greater Providence employs over 1,000 qualified and talented full and part-time staff. Each person is carefully screened and a thorough background check is completed.
All Y staff are trained in the identification and prevention of child abuse. Training addresses appropriate conduct related to the supervision of children; responsibilities to parents and guardians; and reporting procedures for suspected abuses.
At our full-service branches, we have engaged a software company to help us utilize screening technology to help protect children from sex offenders, domestic dispute offenders, and other trespassers.
When you enter the Y, you can have peace of mind that we take the matter of your child's safety very seriously.
