Financial Assistance Fund
As part of our charitable mission, the East Side/Mt. Hope Y embarks on an Annual Fundraising Campaign to ensure that everyone in our community has access to the programs, services and benefits of YMCA membership. When financial hardships unexpectedly occur due to layoffs, illness or injury, or other unforeseeable events, the YMCA keeps its doors open to all, when it’s needed the most.
Join our Team of Volunteers
Please consider joining YMCA staff and volunteers in raising funds for the Financial Assistance Fund. On Thursday, December 4 we will hold our first informational breakfast to tell the Y story, and there are many. In 2007, the YMCA of Greater Providence gave out over $1.4 in financial assistance to people in our communities who would not otherwise have been able to afford the benefits of all the Y has to offer.
Over 20% of members at the East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA receive some form of financial assistance. This means it is likely that you or someone you know and are friendly with at the Y is receiving assistance. If you love the Y, if you appreciate your ability to live a healthier life because of your involvement in programs at the Y, please help us help others have this same opportunity.
Here are a few ways these funds help individuals and families:
Helps parents afford child care so they can work and support their family.
Gives children the opportunity to attend YMCA camps - an experience that lasts a lifetime.
Provides health and well-being programs for individuals and families who would not otherwise be able to afford them.
Allows the YMCA to never turn anyone away due to the inability to afford our services and programs.
